If you mean, colored balls on strings, they are D'Addario's.

AI photos perhaps? Adding visible color to nickel or stainless steel wire without trashing tone and sustain is not really a practical thing.

Sweetwater, and probably other retailers, carry the DR "Neon" K3 strings @ $11 per set. These colored strings come in limited gauges, though, since they're designed for regular guitar, and therefore likely to be impractical for use on pedal steel. As far as the coating, I'd guess it's probably some sort of a micro-thin colored anodize (measured in millionths of an inch), and would likely have no effect on the sound. It might actually help to prevent rust and corrosion, but I'm guessing about that. Their color is claimed to be enhanced by black lights, and they're made for rock players who want a little extra stage presence, I guess. :\

I had some cheap colored string sets in red, green and blue on my surf tele at different times. These came in guitar gauges. I'm kind of a nerd sometimes so I wanted to try these just for the visual effect. They were just OK though.

I've never seen or know of any colored strings in pedal steel sets. You might be able to buy enough different sets to make up one though.

I thought about trying to rob some DR sets to color code strings 9 and 7, the E strings and maybe the chromatics. Not necessary but I thought it might be helpful starting out. Maybe DR would be willing to make an e9 set?
