RIP Del. Certainly a visionary who did his own thing.
Tough couple years for this family with Mike's passing last year.
With much sympathy, I wish for them peace and comfort. Sincere condolences.

Re: Del Mullen
Del was indeed a pioneer and visionary as the founder of Mullen Pedal Steel Guitars. He was also a hard worker and excellent builder of the great Mullen steels. I bought my 1st brand new Mullen D10 8X4 PRP in 1994 and still use it today. I marvel at it's ease of pedal action and smooth playability. I hold Del in the highest regard for his premium skill and attention to detail. RIP Del Mullen.

My condolences to his family. I currently own two Mullen G2’s and I’ve owned at one time every Mullen model they made. Every one were some of the finest guitars I’ve ever owned. RIP

Re: Del Mullen
This really sad news. Del first lost wife Dixie. The loss of Grand son Mike. I got my first Mullen G2 with Dels help. Still have the G2 I got from Del. That was in 2009. Don’t think
I’ll ever sell it. A great family in every way. Rest in peace to all family

Re: Del Mullen
I first met Del Mullen just down the street on Academy Blvd in Colo Springs. The club was Ralph's Place. He was playing his first self built guitar. Late 60's or early 70's. Don't remember the exact time frame. Sorry to hear of his passing. Del will be missed. George Sypert

Re: Del Mullen
RIP Del.
I met both Del and Mike at the SWSGC some 25 years ago. They were both so nice, Mike insisted I try out a new RP, I was new to the Pedal Steel and felt like a king behind that blue burl-wood D-10. I ended up owning a Mullen that I regret selling.
It's so sad to think that they are both now gone.
Prayers for the whole family. It's been a rough time for them.

Re: Del Mullen
I am very saddened by this news.
I have been playing Mullen guitars for 35 years and I've known Dell longer than that. Living in Colorado I have spent a lot of hours out in the Mullen shop. We all know he was a great builder. But more importantly, he was a good, and kind man.
I am grateful for all of his help and I will miss him.
My condolences to his family.
RIP Dell.

Re: Del Mullen
Although I've never played a Mullen pedal steel guitar, I love how the Mullen pedal steel guitar looks and sounds. I remember seeing the Mullen room in St. Louis when I went to the International Steel Guitar Convention in '03. In 2002, I was watching a show CMT aired at the time called "Honky Tonk Sound" , hosted by Trace Adkins, and there was a part where Trace acknowledged the steel guitar and there was a little interview with Del Mullen, and there was a little clip where he was playing a Mullen. Del contributed so much to the steel guitar.

Re: Del Mullen
I'm so,so sorry. I knew Del was up in years and had had some hard knocks of late, so it's not completely unexpected, but our little community is darker for his loss.
I would hope that the family can at some point soon rally and honor Del's legacy by continuing to build those superb instruments! I treasure the two that I have...
