I NEVER GO AROUND MIRRORS - INSTRUMENTAL

Post by John A. Russell »

Hey All

TAB
I have just put together an instrumental version of "I Never Go Around Mirrors". (Keith Whitley)

Story
I had the pleasure of staying with Keith's Brother Dwight & his wife Flo, at their home.

The song was written by Lefty Frizzell and Whitey Shafer.

Dwight told me the story of how this great Country Music song was written, as well as sharing stories of Keith
and picking together.

Some time later, I got to meet Whitely Shafer in Nashville.

I said, Whitey, the song was the greatest Country Song ever written. He agreed!!!

I asked Whitey, how the song was written. He told be a completely different version.

While on tour in the UK as road manager in 2005, the steel player, Danny Dunn played this song.
The UK band members were calling their friends, saying, you just got to come and here this guy play steel.
Danny sure nailed it.

Interest
Anyway, If there is enough interest and enough folks request it, I will put the first part of the tab up for free.

If it goes well, I will post it for request from the 29th June 2025 to the 4th July 2025.
