Vega Commander string cover?

Post by John Keefe »

Hello Steelers,

I have a Vega Commander, which is a well-built guitar, if not very fancy. I'm going to do a little work on it, and remembered that it seems to have once had a string cover like the Gibson Centurys et al. (Suggesting it dates to the 50s rather than the 40s.)

There is a ghost outline on the guitar, and I see in a photo or two online that these covers might have been yellow, like the area on the guitar between the pickup and fingerboard.

Does anyone have a Commander with one of these covers, and if so, could you PM me a picture of it? I can ad lib it, but would prefer to have a guide. It looks like clear acrylic that is painted on the inside, with no decoration.

In a separate post I will be asking the group about Gibson covers too.

Thanks everyone
