Jim "Buz" Reynolds

I just got word from Jim's son that he passed away earlier this morning.

Jim was a pedal steel enthusiast, a steel guitar "nut" as he would say. I met Jim thru the SGF and we had many great conversations over the years. Last year, Jim drove from his home in Franklin, PA to my humble little shop in Ohio, to pick up a Kline that Jeff Newman had built for him way back when. Jim was thrilled to receive it, and we had a nice long visit. While here, Jim gifted me with a few steel guitar themed T-shirts and coffee mugs.

When I woke this morning, I made a pot of coffee, and grabbed one of the mugs Jim had gifted me, and I smiled thinking about him and his unbridles steel guitar enthusiasm.

Jim (Buz), Go rest high on that mountain.

I had the good fortune of counting "Buzz" among my dear friends. He was a proud military veteran and a passionate steel player. I'll hold our many conversations and the time we spent together among my fondest memories. Rest in peace, buddy.

I didn't know about his "Buz" handle, but Jim and I had some nice discussions here on the forum concerning some of Jeff Newman's material. We never met except through the forum.
Nice man. Big steel guitar fan.

Jim started playing about the time I started building pedal steels. We had many nice conversations and transactions.

Wow, I am truly heartbroken. Jim and I have become good friends over the last years. Him and I had so much in common. I spoke to Betty and she stated that the family was having a full military funeral for him Saturday. We've had many great and long conversations recently and he didn't seem out of the ordinary, however I was told that his decline was very rapid. He was a fine gentleman and we all will miss him dearly. I'll be praying for him and his entire family...

I knew that Jim had been ill for the past few months. We enjoyed our conversations together over the phone. He was a very giving person and a sweet character of a man. I will remember our conversations.

Jim and I had become friends over the last year. He sent me a DVD of a National Geographic special about Charlie Company that he was in and the Viet Nam War- "Brothers In War"- really opened my eyes. He was a wonderful giving man and will be missed.
