Just got word Rusty passed away. He was a good buddy and the best damn steeler I've ever seen.

That's sad news. I only met him once after my gig at O'Malleys and he was nothing but kind to me. He told some great stories in the parking lot that night.
Condolences to his friends and family. Rest in peace, Rusty.

In 2010, I had just started playing a Jackson pedal steel guitar, and Rusty was their representative at the time. He was one of the featured players on the Georgia Steel Guitar Association's Peach Jamboree in June of 2010, when the Georgia Steel Guitar Association was still doing their shows in downtown Atlanta. Rusty was playing a doubleneck Jackson Blackjack Custom at the time. He was at the show, along with David, Harry, and Dawn Jackson and was a great player. Before I got my Jackson Blackjack Custom, there was a video of him playing a Jackson Blackjack, and he was playing the Don Gibson/Ronnie Milsap song "I'd Be A Legend In My Time" and it sounded awesome!

Apparently, based on the forum archive, he was a man you don't meet every day. Sorry for your loss. RIP.

Rusty wowed us at the Louisville club on his Jackson BlackJack circa 2010. RIP.

My goodness no. I was recently watching several of his videos with Johnny Cox playing side by side. Rusty was a fine player who worked hard to find his place in the music industry. RIP Rusty.

I knew Rusty for years. Great guy and fantastic steel player. Heard him at plenty of steel shows. Heard him play in Michigan when I lived up there years ago. He'll be missed.

Saw him play at the Red Door on Michigan Ave. Near Ypsilanti Michigan back in the 70's. Was really good player, and so young. RIP
