I have been using BIAB 2014 for many years with no problems. Earlier this year, I decided to get BIAB 2025. What a HUGE mistake. I have had nothing but problems with it, and today became it totally unusable. PG Music support is still as worthless as it has always been. No support on weekends.
I'm probably going to go back to BIAB 2014.

Re: BIAB 2025 - What a lousy program!
I am trying to make a new song. When I click on the styles button so I can select a style, I get a "Stream Read Error". I clear that and then get an "Access Violation Error". I clear that and get an "Application Error" message. I can not do anything with the program.
I uninstalled, re-downloaded the software, reinstalled, and still get the same problems.
My computer has an Intel i3 processor, 32gb RAM, 500+gb free on hard drive, Windows 11 with all current updates, and no other programs give me problems.

Re: BIAB 2025 - What a lousy program!
I told a friend I would make him a backing track to use at an open mic tonight. I will install BIAB 2014 so I can at least get that done.
Funny thing, all morning long, I was playing back a song that I previously made, so I could practice singing the song, and it worked great. When I was done, I closed BIAB and took my dog for a walk by the river. After that, these problems cropped up.

well, physically there shouldn't be a problem. You have enough to run it. You'll have to wait to monday I guess.

Funny thing, I had a question from someone on Farcebook asking if it would play an already finished song. It does. Weird!

I won't hear from time until probably mid-week . I'll try calling or doing a live chat on Monday, although in the past , that has rarely worked. Their support is horrible.Bill McCloskey wrote: 31 May 2025 1:07 pm well, physically there shouldn't be a problem. You have enough to run it. You'll have to wait to monday I guess.
I'm reinstalling 2014 so I can at least get the song done for my friend to use tonight.

Re: CURED..BIAB 2025 - What a lousy program!
Well, looks like it might be workable. Someone on a BIAB Farcebook group said PG Music told him to hold down the shift key when clicking the styles button, evidently I am not the only one it has happened to.. Wonder why it changed after not having to for the last 4 months.
I did reinstall 2014 to get my project done, and will leave it installed (just in case). I also installed 2025 on my laptop today. Tomorrow, I will see if I have to hold the shift key.

Richard,
Have you tried cleaning BIAB 2025 from your computer and reinstalling? I'm running 2025 and I find it to be very stable. I've started getting the BIAB on the USB drive and running it from that. This only cost $25 for the drive and it's solid state so it runs super fast.

Yes. I even deleted folders and files left behind after the uninstallation. Re-downloaded the program from PG Music and reinstalled it. Problem still there. I hope to get ahold of tech support on Monday. I already sent them an email with screenshots of the errors.Rick Campbell wrote: 31 May 2025 9:34 pm Richard,

As far as the USB thing, I might try installing it on an external drive I have and see if that changes anything. I'm pretty sure it is not the computer hard drive. I put a new 2TB drive in maybe 6 months ago.
I installed it on my laptop yesterday too. I just need an electron microscope to see things on my laptop unless I hook it up to one of my 27" monitors.
I can live with having to press [shift] when clicking the styles button if I have too.

Re: CURED..BIAB 2025 - What a lousy program!
I finally got BIAB in October of last year so the 2024 version ... And with anything technical AND new, I had some issues navigating my way around it and things working like I'd hoped. But did reach out to them on several occasions with email and surprisingly did find them helpful even helping me understand things I had no prior reference for.
Because I thought that occasionally I'd want to be using my laptop over my iMac I paid 75 bucks? for the USB, probably them getting even with me buying the Ultra-Pac through Sweetwater.
My biggest complaint is that whole "Style" thing which is all a gobblely goop bunch of letters that mean ZIP to me. When actually looking for a Style per your perimeters of timing/tempo/jazz/country... everything is listed and sort of defined, like New York Piano Bar or something which is easier for me to remember than STY_LKHEOCL .. am I alone on that?, can't believe that I would be.

Re: BIAB 2025 - What a lousy program! Still doesn't work
So, even though I can get to the style picker by pressing [shift] while clicking on the styles button, if I select a style and try to load it into a song, I start getting the same errors. Back to square one.

I know this isn’t very helpful, but I just wanted to chime in to say I’m running 2025 as my first BIAB application without issue at all. I would guess it has something to do with a bug in the upgrade process from 2014 to 2025? Hopefully they can help you sort it out soon. Sounds frustrating. Good luck.

Finding the best style has always been the hardest part for me. I often end up with combining parts from different styles and Real Tracks. I also use the MIDI styles and edit them to my liking. PG Music is always on the cutting edge of technology. I look for them to use AI in the styles selection process. You would play a reference song and BIAB would match you up with a style similar to your reference.

I find maybe 75% of the styles to be unusable. They sound like they had a bunch of preschool kids design them.

Re: Please close. It started working again.
I've been working with PG Music for a few days. I sent screenshots of the error messages and screenshots of my computer information. They said my computer looks good. They suspect a corrupted file, but can't explain why it would still be corrupt after uninstalling 3 times.
They sent me a link for some kind of update, but the program fixed itself before I downloaded the update. I installed the update anyway.
