Axtremity Pedal Slide discontinued?
Since I'm using a Pedal Slide on and off for some time, I've heard, they were making a version with a bullet nose and wanted to order one.
Just to find out, they're out of business for the moment: https://www.timarastringbenders.com/product_p/ps1.htm
Does anybody know, why? It's an extremly cool tool ...

Re: Axtremity Pedal Slide discontinued?
I dunno Peter. I think Tim has stopped producing and selling those. Probably because there wasn't that much action with them.
It's almost like learning to play another instrument. It takes a lot of work to get anything acceptable as I'm sure you know.
I've seen your weiss video using it....pretty nice. There is another video or two with a lap steel and a reso being played using it and several videos with Tim.
I think it's a great gadget if one has the time to devote to getting proficient with it.
I have one. I tried to learn it for steel, pedal steel and dobro, but I'm almost given up on it. I waffle back and forth over selling it. I don't really like the long flat nose bar either. It's almost too long and light in weight. Some players stated using a roll of pennies inside it. I considered that and also considered drilling one of my own bullet bars to attach to it because I tend to snag the flat nose.
I don't know if they ever went ahead with the bullet model, but that would be the best IMO.

Re: Axtremity Pedal Slide discontinued?
I have one of the bullet nosed Pedal Slides. When I first got it the bar was hollow and light weigh so it did not work or sound very good. I emailed Tim and sent it back, he sent me one with a solid bar that sounds much better. Steep learning curve and pedal steel keeps my grey matter occupied. I'd sell it if someone really wanted it...

So, here's the title track of my first album. Originally played with a bottleneck on a standard guitar. But last week I figured out, how to play it on a lapsteel (Baritone Weissenborn by German luthier Manfred Pietrzok) by using the Pedal Slide: SLIDEWALK

Tim is on FB pretty regularly. You might look him up there and ask him. He might even have one laying around his shop he could part with.

Slidewalk cool Peter.
Lee, as I mentioned earlier, I've been meaning to drill and mount one of my bullet bars to my Axtremity. Wonder if you could post a pic and possibly some measurements of the bar used and the point where it attaches to the slide.
Thx. JO.

Jerry and all: Here are the photos with measurements of my Axtremity Pedal Slide. Bar appears to be stainless but not sure. It is pretty heavy, can weigh it if you need that too:

Re: Axtremity Pedal Slide discontinued?
Thanks for that Lee. Those are the exact measurements I needed. So what improvement did you find with the bullet? Better size, weight or the lack of snagging the front?
I'm having a little difficulty removing the original bar as It's a pass through screw with a nylon insert nut on the inside. Going to take some special accurate tools to get at it.
Thanks again.

No problem. The original bar was a bullet but hollow and light. Tim was great and replaced it with a solid bar which sounded much better. The hollow bar tended to have a buzz unless you pushed down pretty hard.Jerry Overstreet wrote: 12 Apr 2025 6:38 pm Thanks for that Lee. Those are the exact measurements I needed. I need to spend time with that contraption. I spend a couple or hours a day on the pedal steel and am making glacial progress but need to revisit the Axtremity Pedal Slide, hoping that is not counted in geologic time....
Best,
Lee Rider

Re: Axtremity Pedal Slide discontinued?
I've been in the process of converting mine to a bullet bar. It's an old black end Dunlop std. 7/8 bar so I didn't care if I messed it up.
I used a drill press to drill a hole close to the end, tapped and threaded it and installed it.
It's a work in progress, but I'm finding it easier to use than the original one that it came with and the weighted bar has a better tone plus the bullet end is easier than that flat plugged one.
The real challenge is tapping the hole without breaking the tap, which I did using a 4 so I had to move it a little further toward the tip and redo it using a 6. The 4 is so tiny and you really need a really good bottom tap which I don't have.
So, I'm giving it a go with the Appalachian reso and the lap steel. The pedal steel is still up on blocks and I can't move it right now with my wrecked back....so we'll see what develops.
