Check out American Idol from last night, tonight and/or the finale next week. The show has placed Dan Kalisher on pedal steel on center stage right beside the contestants. There's some pretty close shots of Dan and the Sierra he's playing. Considering the amount of viewers American Idol is seen by, I think it's safe to say that American Idol is responsible for the most eyes and ears ever being exposed to Pedal Steel at the same time.

What is a ballpark wage paid for working in that band? Does it follow Los Angeles AFofM scale amounts?
