Hey everyone,
I've been playing for about 2 months now and don't have any background with amps/power accessories. I've looked everywhere for this issue but haven't been able to find anything on it. When playing with my amp turned on the volume pedal sometimes seems to shut off and back on like there's a bad connection. It will still control the volume on the amp but at a much lower level than normal. Sometimes I can play with the cables a little and turn them while plugged in and the pedal will go back to normal. I have a Stage One volume pedal and an Urban KU-28 amp. Anybody have suggestions? This is my first post so forgive me if I put it in the wrong spot.

You're in the right place Koehl, so you've got that going for you
let's go over the list of possibilities.
Guitar wiring: look to see if the pickup wire is making contact with metal under the guitar or the connection failing at the jack. A dying pickup can do this too but let's not go there now.
Guitar cords: change out your cables to see if one or more are going bad.
Volume pedal: wires touching or failing connections are easy to spot if you look inside, it is also possible that the pot shaft is slipping in its winding.
Amp: amps are not immune to issues, especially if you bought it used, and the Urban KU-28 is a very good candidate for prior abuse.
If you have another electric instrument run it through your chain instead of the steel and see if the problem remains. If so skip the volume pedal and check again. Isolate the possibilities one at a time and keep us posted.
