Reaction to Incidental introduction to pedal steel

Post by Allen Lovett »

The video is of a young lady doing vocal analysis on Linda Ronstadt’s live performance of Blue Bayou (‘77). Her reaction to seeing & hearing pedal steel for the first time (Dan’s solo at 16:28) is priceless.

I've watched a number of her "reaction videos" in the past, but I eventually stopped because her constant pausing, rewinding, pausing, rewinding drove me crazy. She definitely has an audience.

Elizabeth runs the best of these "singers reacting to singers" channels imo.

Hopefully her audience gets her to do some George Jones, Merle Haggard, or Vince Gill with Hughey reactions. Vince Gill - Look At Us 1992

She's the real deal as a vocalist she has a reaction to herself singing pretty difficult opera. One of the funnier aspects of her audience is how they slowly turned her into a metalhead due to the commonalities between tenor/soprano metal singers and opera technique.

As someone that largely learned to sing in church without amplification the vids where she talks about the difficulties in singing with a microphone after singing a style that doesn't use amplification hit close to home.
Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous; praise is meet for the upright. Give praise to the Lord with the harp, chant unto Him with the ten-stringed psaltery. Sing unto Him a new song, chant well unto Him with jubilation. For the word of the Lord is true, and all His works are in faithfulness. The Lord loveth mercy and judgement; the earth is full of the mercy of the Lord.

It was the first time I’ve seen one, but I can see how it could have that affect, unless you were really into it. I did like that she replayed the steel even though that wasn’t her purpose of the video.

That would be cool. She obviously enjoyed the steel, although other songs may not have the same impact with it not being new to her.

I wonder how many of her nearly 2 million followers also got a taste of steel for the first time.
