Parametric eq pedal with a TB202
I've been reading some comments on YouTube video reviews of the toneblock 202 that some people are running a parametric eq pedal in the fx loop. Perhaps folks some folks aren't happy with where the mid frequency lands. I am curious who these people are, what is thr reet of your rig (ie - guitar, speaker(s)). I havent met anyone who is using an eq pedal as of yet.

Re: Parametric eq pedal with a TB202
That seems redundant as the TB202 has three distinctly different tone stacks, including a decent emulation of the classic Fender AB763 circuit in which the mid scoop frequency center varies with the treble setting. ALSO the effects loop is line level and not suitable for most instrument-level stompboxes but who am Ito question their ways. Diff'rent strokes...
For what it's worth I'm using the TB202 with a JBL K130, using the "VINT" (Fender) voicing with an early 1980's Truetone pickup in my Zum. Practice settings are shown, I run the front end at 3-to-4 o'clock with some limiting to keep it clean and have never had the master past the 100w midpoint on even the loudest stages.

Re: Parametric eq pedal with a TB202
I have used a SansAmp Para Driver Di from Tech 21 in the loop with some satisfaction. I tried a Boss Advanced Graphic EQ both in the front end and in the loop as well. My efforts was to trim the excessive highs and get better control of the mids. I didn't get the overwhelming results I hoped for. I am driving a 12 inch TT speaker in a Tommy Huff cabinet. My signal chain is GFI, Derby, or Justice pedal steels equipped with Lawrence 705s to a Sarno Black Box then Goodrich L120 pot pedal and into the Quilter 202. I tried Daves settings, Travis Toys and my own tweaking attempts. Best sound for me is using a Tonex pedal into the Quilter return jack therefore bypassing the preamp section using it like a power amp. I use the Reverb from the Tonex. No disrespect for Dave or Travis because sound is subjective to each players taste. I have witnessed the Quilter 202 as a stand alone amp and it sounded good from an audience perspective. Not sure what speakers were used but the cabinet was replica of the Peavey Nashville 400 and the speaker looked like a Black Widow.

Thanks for thr response guys. Dave that makes good sense. I was surprised to read that people out there were going over and above the mid tone shaping and adding to it.
Larry. You've got a really nice setup there by the sounds of it. Very interesting on your prefered signal chain. Just goes to show how diferent everyone is in terms of preferred tone.

Quentin, thanks for the kind words. I have several different rigs and everyone offers something or lacks something in tone. It's a endless search for the golden tone. Quilter responds to different steels, pickups and speaker choices. I certainly don't hear the Fender blackface tone no matter where the dials are set and every speaker in my Arsenal. The Tonex into the return is the closest I have gotten to Fender tone.
