I'll ask the community here since I couldn't find anything specific online.
Issue is I just put together a rack using a Peavey DECA 528 power amp. I made a stereo patch panel for signal inputs and speaker outs.
I connected both sides of the inputs. I also had both of the speaker outputs connected to the jacks but only connected one speaker. I also left the output vol. control of the unconnected speaker wide open.
I know you cannot leave speaker connections open on a tube amp but always thought it was fine for a SS amp although I can't find any specifics on this particular amp. I believe it is MOSFETS.
Thoughts if this damaged the amp. I also accidentally bumped the rack over and it hit the floor pretty hard but coninuted to work afterward. .
Everything worked fine for a few hours then the amp stopped output. Everything lights, the fan runs but no sound output.
If it helps, there is a repeditive light "whump" at about 1 sec. regular intervals into the speaker, but that's all.
This amp has been in service in other configs. for several years with no problems.
I double checked all the jacks and connections for integrity and shorts. All that is good. No interference among jacks etc.
Don't be too critical of the labels. These are just temporary indicators to keep continuity until better ones are crafted.

Re: Deca Power Amp Issue
Maybe there's a little fuse on the amp that you missed?
Just 'cause I look stupid, don't mean I'm not.

Thanks Bud. Yeah, I found the fuse. It's not blown. I looked inside for a breaker or fuse but nothing there. That's as much poking around inside electronics that I'm qualified for.
I still don't know what I did to kill it, but I'll try to be more careful about the connections and controls on the next one.
I've found a replacement and will let that person try his luck with repairing this one.
We can close this now. Thx.
