The chime lick at the end is Gold. Thanks for the post, now I know the name and he sounds great.

I think I hear him doing some Travis alternating bass under his melody here n there. Is there also any of that “thumb back stroke” in it too?

Jerry Byrd is the only one I know who does that.

great song Chris... thanks for sharing!

Bobby's a legend and doesn't quite get the praise he deserves, I suppose he wasn't on nearly as many recordings as some of the other big names.

he certainly excelled at the thumb style!

Right, Scott. I still have a cassette player, but don't see Bobby's music on the forum shop.

He's on a lot of Gene Watson's recordings.
When I'm really impressed with the steel playing, I look at the credits and it's Bobby Garrett.

Sonny Garrish is probably who you're thinking of? He played on many of Gene Watson's hits.
