DI question
What is a preferred DI pedal and where would it be placed in the chain?

Re: DI question
If I was using the DI to send a signal to my amp and a signal to the PA, I would place it last in my signal chain. I would want any effects being used to be on both signal paths after the DI.

Re: DI question
Here's one I'd use... goes between amp and speaker. Gives everything in your tone except the speaker response itself... and it tries to emulate that too, with 'center/edge' mic placement tone compensation.

99$
If you raise your amp volume you will raise the signal to the FOH/monitor mix... something that won't happen with a instrument-level DI. As a plus, if you use amp reverb it'll be in the mix.

Too much junk to list... always getting more.

Re: DI question
Stephen en makes good points about raising your amp volume using an amp->spkr DI will send a louder signal to the PA.
Also, if using the DI at the end of the signal chain before amp and PA sends, if you raise your guitar volume control (volume pedal in the case of a steel guitar), your amp and direct signal volume will increase. When doing sound checks, i always give the soundman my highest playing volume & my normal backing volume so he can set the PA to not let me drown out the rest of the band when doing solos. Giving him the loudest volume also lets him set the gain knob so you don't clip and distort.

Re: DI question
I have used DI boxes in the past, but for maybe the last 10 years, I carry a Sennheiser e609 mic to mic my amp. That gives the warmth of a real speaker. Of course, that may be lost depending on how bad the soundman deals with your mic signal.

Re: DI question
It depends on what you’re trying to accomplish with the DI, what the rest of your signal chain is, and budget. Are you able to provide any further info in this regard?Mark Robinson wrote: 18 Mar 2025 2:35 pm What is a preferred DI pedal and where would it be placed in the chain?
