MA9 Peterson tips?

Post by Bearden Coleman »

Could someone walk me through how you personally use the MA9 tuning on the Peterson?

For example, when you tuning the strings for the A pedal are you also pushing down the B? Same for B and C?

How about with the levers?

I realized quickly after looking at the downloads that unlike the SE9 that pairs with the SP9, that the MA9 is just one set thing.

Thank you in advance.

With MA9 tuning I tune strings 8 & 4:
E-F raise with A pedal down
E-Eb lower with B pedal down
E open with A and B pedal down

Pedal changes on strings 10, 6, 5 & 3:
A & B both pedals down, no knees
B & C both pedals down, no knees

The open G#s tune pedals up, no knees

String 9 D-C# with A & B pedals down, no knees

That gets me pretty close. I check some chords and fine tune finish by ear.

I like string 7 to be slightly flatter than where the tuner tells me to tune it to.

To my ears MA9 is a little bit sweeter/just than the Peterson SP9.
