Battery/rechargeable portable amp suggestions?

Post by Pete Martin »

Hi all,

Any recommendations for a battery powered festival/quiet jam amp for lap steel and 5 string electric mandolin? Thanks in advance.

Get a Jackery Power bank and then use any amp you like, with no compromise on power, playing time, speaker size, etc.

I have a medium size one and put it and my ZT Lunchbox in a small backpack for transport, and I can play all day, as loud as I need to, and even provide power to a couple of other people.

And then when the power goes off I can power some lights, etc.

I got this one, which probably is a bit overkill, but nice to have

I've had an old Roland MicroCube for years, still works pretty good for those situations. Powered by batteries or wall wart,
GFI Expo S-10PE, Sho-Bud 6139, Fender 2x8 Stringmaster, Supro consoles, Dobro. And more.

Ditto D. Shubert...........Roland Micro Cube GX.....had mine for 7 or 8 years. 6 rechargeable batteries and it will play for a good long time, like the add says.
Currently own, 6 Groner-tone lap steels, one 1953 Alamo Lap steel, Roland Cube, Fender Champion 40

Pete, I have the Roland Mobile Cube and an older Yamaha THR you can try out. I don’t love either one, but the Roland is louder, simpler, and built like a tank. The Yamaha sounds better, but is more delicate. Come try 'em out.

(I have a Spark Go and once you use the app to design replace the horrible factory settings, it’s Ok as a desktop practice amp. I’d like to try the Spark Mini sometime)
