Speaker repair

Post by Tim Pillow »

I’m looking for either a recone kit for a Peavey black widow 1203–4(nashville 112E enclosures)or someone that can do the work that has access to replacement parts.

No factory new parts are available for those speakers. You might get lucky and find a used one or perhaps a NOS unit.

Best bet is to contact Jeffrey Maxwell. He can repair your speaker. He's a forum member and has done a lot of satisfactory work for folks here on the forum on Black Widows and other makes of speakers. Look up his info with the "members" button above.

Tim, can I ask what is wrong with your speaker? Reason I'm asking is that BWs have an issue with the magnet's foam plug falling out and the material getting down in the gap and causing rubbing/noise.

I apologize if this is something you're familiar with or there is some other issue or reason for wanting a recone.

Just asking. Take care.

while trying to profile an amp with my kemper I smelled burnt wires, and the speaker stopped working, had it taken to a tech who pulled it apart determined it the voice coil was damaged.

Thanks for the explanation. Didn't mean to be too nosy. Yeah, Jeffrey is your man for sure.

I second Jeff Maxwell! He is the bomb! His BW 1501-K-130 combo recones are what I’m currently using. Peavey BW power with some of that JBL tizz on top. Can’t beat ‘em. Even his speaker shipping/storage boxes are the best! Plus he and his wife are just wonderful people. And his shop out back looks like a laboratory!
