What A Pleasant Surprise in the mail today!
Shout out to my friend Bobby Ingano from Hawaii, for donating some of his life's work to be displayed in our Sacred Steel Music & History Museum. The sacred steel genre will forever be connected to Hawaii and Joseph Kekuku for inventing the Hawaiian guitar and bringing it to the mainland.
Our sacred steel progenitor, Troman Eason, first heard a Hawaiian musician playing the Hawaiian guitar on a radio broadcast in Philadelphia, Pa in the 1930's and later convinced the guy to give him lessons. After learning the technique Troman introduced the Hawaiian steel guitar to the Church of the Living God, founded by Mary Lena Tate in 1903, and almost 90 years later it is the lead instrument in their church worship services. Thanks again Bobby and Aloha!
