Carrying case for legs, pedal bar & rods

Post by Marty Nemanick »

I'm looking for a small padded case or ABS type case to accommodate these without being overly large. I have looked at a bunch of websites and cannot find anything close. I'm looking for something 36"L, 8"wide, and 4" high or thereabouts. Let me know if any of you guys have found something like this.

Thank you,

Marty

Check sporting goods scores. They typically have gun bags that will work.

Thank you Jimmie, I took Roger's advice and ordered a 35" gun case, if it is too shallow, I'll call and order one from you. Thanks guys, I appreciate it!

Looks like you're set, but for anyone else in the market, I recently got one of these Ambitful padded camera-tripod bags. Works great holding the leg bag and pedal bar, and didn't break the bank:

They have different sizes and mine is 35.43 inches but has room to spare for my short-ish Carter pedal bar. But maybe other steels have slightly longer pedal bars. The longer 39.37in/100cm bag should work for pretty much any steel.

Thank you Tucker, this gives me another option if the gun case doesn't work, I appreciate it.

I've been using that Ambitful. Perfect size and well padded.

This gun case has been outstanding for a lot of years now. But I've spend a LOT of time looking I can't find anything quite like it now, just to have a back-up if/when the zipper dies.
It is nicely padded and is heavy canvas and it has two full-length compartments. Perfect for rack in one, legs & rods in the other.

Check police supply and gun supply outlets. There is some 2 gun rectangular tactical padded gun cases, That should fill the case needs for you. They are well built, Ballistic Nylon cover with foam and soft lining. handles and carrying strap.

Here is a possibility...
Jimmie Hudson builds terrific cases. I bought a Hudson Custom 8 string from Jimmie in 2020...The case is better and stronger than any other commercial cases I have seen before.

Another consideration is...

Good luck.

$25 for the 32" Ambitful case is hard to beat. It is well-padded and fits my Kline U12 pedal bar and legs perfectly. I have two Hatton Cases, and they are excellent, but this shaves pounds off the amount I have to carry.

I use this one. 35" long padded bag. Stuff wrapped up in my cover. Pretty roomy actually. Can also put my lap steel in there.

Oh no. Just the pedal bar and leg/pedal rod bag. This bag loads from the top and the zipper doesn't open all the way up so it might be tough to load a heavy pedal steel in there plus it's only 10" wide so....

I was just saying I have a small lap steel I can put in there if/when necessary.

I have another wheeled padded bag for just the guitar.
