StringMaster Thumb-Wheel Blend pot knobs NEW 3D Printed

Post by George Piburn »

Hello StringMaster - enthusiast - owners. GeorgeBoards purchased an original Thumb-Wheel Knob from a forum member (Thank You) and we reverse engineered the Thumb Wheel with a few improvements too.

For those who do not know - the wheels simply press on the splined split shaft so we made a New Wheel that fits nicely and we added a textured edge for east grip.

Of course these will never be replicas for restoration, the originals were machine lathed from a metal bar, and would be super expensive to make a true replica.

Although if you simply want a thumb-wheel knob to make the blend pot easier to adjust at a Low Price, Here It Is.

Brilliant!

George, do you also make the hex bolts and washers that are used to attach the tie-rods together? I think it was Tony Oresteen who wrote in a thread that you have some 3-d printed versions of those as well.

Neck alignment tubes

Post by George Piburn »

Hello Alex, No I don't make nuts and bolts,

What I do make is the Little Tubes to Align the Necks that 1/4" Thread rods go through.

I got the measurements here on the forum, from a member's thread where he micro measured and drew pictures with the measurements.
Those have a little Raised Divider ridge in the center.

Same deal as the Thumb Wheels in that they are difficult to find, and the originals were machine lathed and would be very expensive to recreate those.

Great idea George! And you will see your excellent Stringmaster rod spacers in an upcoming project :) !

For those who want metal blend wheels, Armadillo Guitar makes them but because that they are so backlogged, they are not taking any orders right now.

A couple of years ago I bought two from them and they fit well.

Alex, the rod threads are 1/4"-20. I just cut 1/4-20 threaded rod to length.

Lowe's sells a Hillman #881671 T-nut that will fit. IIRC it uses a 3/16" hex key.

In case anyone following the thread wonders, this is the part that George can provide. These bushings go inbetween the necks on D8, T8 and Quad Stringmasters.
