A banjo, like a pet monkey, seems like a good idea at first.

We need more info.

2. Scale length?
3. Which OPEN D tuning are you using?
a) 135135 or (L2H) D F# A D F# A
b) 151351 or (L2H) D A D F# A D
Thanks!

Don’t want to hijack this thread… but the 135135 D tuning version is new to me, very little info on line. I tried it on my ‘alway in D’ Weissenborn, tuning it DOWN to those notes… almost like slack key. Big and boisterous.
Is it normally tuned up or down.
Love learning new stuff
More info is appreciated

The D F# A D F# A (1 3 5 1 3 5) is the same as a G dobro tuning, just in D.
D A D F# A D (1 5 1 3 5 1) is the more common form of the open D tuning. It is used on lap steel, dobro, and slide guitar.

I've used the 151351 tuning exclusively when I play in Open D or Open E. I started out with open E, and still use it occasionally.
The nice thing is you get a good bluesy sound with this tuning. You don't, however, get the doubled octaves that 135135 tunings give you.

Janusz,
You English is fine - far, far better than my Polish (none).
I agree that Troy Brenningmeyer would be a great place to start.
Understand that Troy is playing a 25.5" scale Dusenberg. On a 22.5" scale you would need big strings to mimic Troy's sound. I tried it on a 22.5" scale and it was unworkable.

The lowest I would try on a 22.5" guitar is OPEN F which would call for a 0.062" #6 string.
