Deluxe34 (Asher) Stand Questions

Post by Jim Fogarty »

Hey,

I bought a Deluxe34 stand used a couple years. Below are the brackets I got with it. I've been able to successfully figure out the right combo to use for a single neck lap steel......but my main use for it now, if possible, would be for a D-8 Stringmaster or Dual Pro sized, or for dobro/tricone.

Considering what I have, what do I need to use it for those purposes? (obviously not at the same time!)

Also, does anyone sell the brackets I need, at this point.....or any of you have some for sale?

Thanks!

You can make them ... I needed big ones to hold my Dual Pro ... ordered the same dimensions of the aluminum bars from Online Metals.

To get the bend ... the aluminum needs to be annealed (softened) or it can break ...

A trick to get to the aluminum to the proper temperature ... draw a line where you want the bend with a Sharpie ... then heat it with a propane torch until the Sharpie mark disappears ... that's the temp you want ... stop heating, let it cool to room temp ... then place the end in a vise ... smack it with rubber mallet ... done

Thanks Rick. I would actually have to get someone to do that for me. Don't have the setup here to do it.

So, my preference would be to buy the appropriate brackets. Anyone?

Wow Jim! You've got a big bunch of brackets. Mine only came with a few, but I am able to use it with all my lap steels and Dobros and Weissenborns. It looks to me like you've got enough. Show us the biggest ones on the stand.
