Best C6 String SET for lap steel ?? l
Hi All I've read that heavy gauge strings are best for Lap Steels - & read so many personal preferences I'm a bit confused. Looking through the FORUM STORE - the prices seem reasonable, & there are brands I've not seen anywhere else. Can anyone recommend a good brand of heavy C6 string sets - from the forum store ? My favorite slide is GLASS - if that makes a difference?
I have a couple of sets of GHS brand strings in C6 - but thought I'd use them on my acoustic mahogany biscuit bridge "Triolean" clone Reasonator.
Geting the brand NAME of a few good heavy sets of C6 strings - will make choosing much easier. I'll be using them on my Rogue, 1939 Vega model 100,
NEW Asian Gibson EH-100 clone.
Thanks up Front, Craig in Jasper, N. Georgia
>>>>>>> P.S. My modified Rogue scale: = 22.5", My 1939 VEGA scale: = 22.5", My Tario (Gibson CLONE): = 23" <<<<<<<<

The scale length makes a huge difference in the feel of the strings. The Rogue is a 21" scale, I do not know the scale of your Vega. Do you like a soft feel or a hard feel?
I make up my own sets.

expensive strings
Well, I consider these crazy expensive, but this is what I use on short scale (22.5") laps.

Here's my 22.5" C6 set of strings:
For lap steel I buy individual strings and make up my own sets.
I buy my strings from Just Strings - have since 2002ish. I am just a customer of theirs.
I'd suggest that you head over to GeorgeBoards and buy his 22.5" scale conversion kit for your Rogue. I used it on my Rogue and it is great. He now sells them on Reverb. George is a member here.
