Pedal Steel Trio Album - Chicago Steel

Post by Andy Brown »

Hello fellow steelers, I just released my pedal steel jazz trio album, Chicago Steel. I'm proud to have Clark Sommers, a Chicago legend, on upright bass, and Dr.Eric Binder, a rising star from NY, on drums. The idea for this album sort of came together last minute - Eric happened to have an off day on tour in Chicago, and I had never played with Clark before. We met at the studio and cut these takes, no rehearsal, mostly first takes. I decided to cover a mix of tunes from the jazz and country world. I hope you enjoy! The album should be available on all streaming platforms. You can purchase the album on bandcamp or message me for a CD. Links below. Thank you for listening.

Track Listing:
Chitlins Con Carne - Kenny Burrell
Bright Mississippi - Thelonious Monk
Night Life - Willie Nelson
Four on Six - Wes Montgomery
Crazy Arms - Ralph Mooney
Wills Point - Buddy Emmons
Steelin' Moonlight - Speedy West

Andy - sounds great!
Right off the bat Chitlins Con Carne has a great vibe.
Nice playing by you, Clark Sommers and Dr. Binder throughout. I enjoyed your version of Crazy Arms.
Steelin' Moonlight works so well with your trio.
Thanks for posting!

Thanks for listening, Rick! Glad you enjoyed. I really wanted to do something different with Crazy Arms, I think it works well as a bossa.

I really enjoyed listening to this, Andy. I love your touch, the way you get into a groove, and especially your version of Crazy Arms - jazzy and lyrical.

Best of luck with this album.
