Steel Guitar Seat Protection

Post by Joe Rogers »

How do you keep your steel seat looking new when it is actually 20 years old...??

I learned of these vulcanized fibre cases about 35 years ago back when Woody Woodel was building them. The Franklin steel guitars were originally sold with these cases. Vulcanized fibre is the same material used for drum cases. Woody sold the company to Danny Bentley (who built this particular case). Note the handle finally gave out this morning after 20 years of trailers, buses and airlines. I'll be shipping to Steve Hinson who now owns the company under the name Brand X Cases for a quick repair.

If any of you EVER haul your seat in a trailer at any time, you are doing yourself a HUGE disservice by not getting one of these. For me, it has been almost as important as a volume pedal.
Another little secret: How many of you look for a chair at the venue to prop your amp on to hear it better..?? No need to do so any longer. These cases will support your amp with zero problems. Going in-ears with a modeler/pedalboard..?? Set your pedalboard on top of this case to use within arms length. I cannot recommend them enough, it has been one of the best gear purchases I ever made.

I have a seat with those type of legs on it, It was used when I bought it 25 years ago. I only use it in emergency, It has no back, And is not comfortable for long sits.
