NEW KLUSON 4x4 tuners and tuner pans are available!

Post by Alex Cattaneo »

I don’t know if everyone is aware, but guys trying to restaure stringmasters should be ecstatic about this. Kluson now sells tuning pans and tuners in 4x4 or 3x3 configuration. Three choices of color for each one! These are called Original Deluxe Series.

Which is the right finish for vintage Stringmasters, chrome or nickel? I guess nickel would mesh better with worn hardware?

Got my answer from the Kluson website

Kluson® 4 On A Plate Deluxe Series Tuning Machines For Lap Steel Guitar

Back from the golden age of lap steel guitar, Kluson® has revived the 4 per plate tuning machines used on the Fender® Stringmaster®s, 400 pedal steel and many others. These are exact reproductions and will retrofit your original Stringmaster® tuning machine tray. Not only are these tuning machines made in the original nickel finish, they are also available in chrome and gold to match the Kluson® reproduction of the original tray.

Theses have been available for at least 3 years.

They are NOT a drop in replacement for Stringmasters, I have had to grind the tuner plate ends to get them to fit.

Kluson also has the 6 string version as well which I have used in a Champ re-build.

I’ve got a set of these pans in my Stingmaster. It was a snug fit, but they work great.

Thanks guys. I have a set on order that should be here in a couple of weeks. I’ll bring the pan with me to the store when I pick them up! I’ll report back with my findings.
