I known Andy for a long time as a forum member, but I never realized what a talented man he is... if you are into building instruments, and awesome luthier art, you should visit Andy's web site

here are just a few samples of Andy's work
all is done using natural ocean shells, and by hand, no CNC cut fake plastic imitations...at my age I don't get amazed easily, but Andy's work is nothing short of amazing....

| There's a coffee table-type book written by one of the big honcho inlayers, but with lots of pictures of other people's stuff too. I don't recall the name, but one of the new hot young bucks ("does" seems condescending) is a young lady who does them part time only - her day job is as a brain surgeon. She does inlays to RELAX, never could there be a stronger argument for "different strokes for different folks." |

I don't even have a slightest idea how is it possible to cut abalone with a little hand saw so precise... I'm gonna have to check on YouTube and watch some of those guys do that, I am completely amazed with those artists and their work...

You're maybe thinking of Grit Laskin? There are two stunning books showcasing his (and others) inlay work: "Grand Complications – 50 guitars & 50 stories", and "A Guitar Maker's Canvas". |
