Mark Giles - cabinet maker extraordinaire!

Post by Ken Byng »

Mark Giles supplies cabinets for a number of different pedal steel manufacturers, and each one is a work of art. He must have a great source of flamed and other maple. The steel guitar world is very fortunate to have such a highly skilled craftsman, actively manufacturing such high quality items. Some of his work is simply breathtaking.

This is some of his work:

I don't have a closeup, but the fretboard markers are inlaid mother-of-pearl doves.

Jim Eaton - I've said before on here. Your Legend is the best sunburst steel guitar I have ever seen. Just beautiful.

I saw that cabinet in the MSA room in Dallas last year. It looked fabulous close up.

Hi Ken, the one you saw at the show was a 12 string. That might be the one TC is showing. Mine as you can see is a D10. And it is still for sale. I already have someting else in the works.

Bill - you mean this one :D .

Both yours and the S12 are beauties. I know that Reece told me that Kyle Bennett had told him that the cabinet that I saw was incredible - who can disagree. Mark Giles is a remarkable craftsman.

Mark is a master woodworker that's for sure. he's made many different instruments including a accoustic guitar for George Strait. He's also one of the funniest guys I know. I've been lucky to stay at his house a few times, Mark and Carla always take such good care of me, Love them both. Check out the cabinets Mark made for Telonics, they're beautiful
