I just got booked to play a 4/20 gig at a new vintage guitar store, and they have a Console Grande D8 in somewhat “worn” condition. I’m going to ask if they’ll let me change the strings and play on that rather than my Stringmaster. Anything I should know about or be looking for as I make this Gibson performance ready?

Giveaway (no, not guitar)

These are 481's, used on Console Grande around '40-42, If anyone needs them, post a pic here and you can have them for free. This is a great thread.

Any guess on the vintage? I'm guessing mid to late 50s-ish - but I'm no Scholar on these

maybe someday I'll have those fingers to make this one sing like some of the famous and not so famous guys/gals from the past eras... need to get working on that

Beautiful guitar. I have a '54 just like it. I used to know this cold, but I'd have to check Duchossoir. These latter models with the P90 pickups and 4 legs were made from about '53 to '56 or '57 I think. Nice one!David Laveau wrote:![]()
