My Recorded version of I Threw Away the Rose

Just finished up this track. All the fills are done on steel (i.e. no piano fills as the original song had on verse 2). I stayed faithful to the original recording with the steel parts as well as the rest of the band parts. Additional fills were taken from Merle's re-recorded version of this song from 1996.

The intro to this song is one of my favorite steel parts of all time, and you played it beautifully!

Any idea who did the steel work on the original recording? Perhaps Norm Hamlett?

Thanks Ron! I believe the original record had Ralph Mooney on steel as this would have been recorded in 1967 just prior to his departure from The Strangers (I believe). I have blog post about the original LP here:
