The Star Moss Shuffle

Post by Geoff Noble »

Enjoy a walk through one of my favourite places.

Near Markinch in the Kingdom of Fife in Scotland there is a village called Star, on the outskirts of Star there is an area called Star Moss. This is a natural wildlife protected area and is a small part of Fife that has not been drained/cultivated and remains as it has been for centuries. A lot of Fife in previous centuries was as Star Moss remains today before the land was drained and transformed into arable land from previously essentially being a swamp.

Star Moss has a unique vibe and entering it is like walking into a different time. Often when I feel troubled or have a lot on my mind I will visit Star Moss, it has a very calming effect and after a while I feel relaxed and at one with the World again.

It has unique foliage, mushrooms, fungi and a lovely lake that is frequented by families of ducks.

The tune is basically a guitar melody, pedal steel provides the backing.
