Smoke Gets in your Eyes-Short Tab

Post by John Swain »

Here's a way of archiving chord melody arrangements without the tedium of tabbing out every note..I call it "short tab"like shorthand! The first number is the fret, then pedals( 4-8 on C6, knee levers are named by note they give you on open strings..ie:10/56Bb..would be 10th fret 5+6 pedals + Bb knee lever .You have to know the melody in your head to use this!If anyone's interested I can post charts for standards I've already written out..JS

John,

I think you have a great idea there
...but you have to post a sound file
to support it.

Keep persuing.

Like It

I like it, John. It encourages one to search more easily for the melody in one area once the chord is given. Love to see more of these. stevet

Roy, the idea is to archive where you catch the chords, not to document the melody..Just find any version of SmokeGIYEyes and listen to the melody!
Steve ,thanks I've using this for about 6 years. After I started it Jim Cohen and I could talk over an arrangement over the phone ,updating each other as we found new ways to get the voicings...I have another half dozen that I have to scan in then I'll post them!JS
