Sonny, if you get a chance, show us some of the underside. That has got to be one fine, precision machine. I'd love to peek under the hood. Man,....That is one sweet ride!
I hope Lamar decides to build some more of these jewels!

Sonny, all ya gotta do is what I did. Go to www.photobucket.com, open a free account, and then you can upload your photos to the webspace they give you there and then just copy and paste the link for your photos into your Forum posting. It's actually pretty simple. Give it a try!

Thanks Jim,,,I'll give it a whirl,,,(I'm so "technologically challenged" that I had to take 6 months course to learn how to log onto the Steel Guitar Forum,,,LOL,,,but it was worth it!!!)

Allow me to pile on with my oohs & aahs. Beautiful and beautifully crafted.
Those springs on the pedals---is that just a pedal rod release mechanism or is there more going on there?
I'm not sure what it is about the design but this is the first headless steel that didn't put me off. No diss intended on any other guitars. Just a high compliment on this one.

Jon,,it IS just a pedal rod release thing,,,it is the same type that Joe Kline made,,,Lamar said he talked to Joe and Joe agreed to him using it,,,very positive connection,,nothing to break. Delrin connector.
Lamar also makes specific parts for other manufacturers,,,I think there is a new guitar being made in Ohio or ?? that he made some tuners for.

Jon, I agree. For some reason the keyless look on this one didn't bother me. And I don't know why either; they always bothered me before... Image

If anyone is interested, Lamars phone # is 850-539-6719. I wish everyone could see the little 1/2 scale, fully functional pedal steel he made,,,everything is scaled down to 1/2 size (5/32 string spacing ???),,,beautiful piece of work,,,,

Sonny-That is a beautiful guitar and looks like Leading Edge Technology. Best of both worlds. How much does it weigh all setup out of the case? Does it stay in tune well? What kind of Bell Cranks are those? They look a little like Fessendens. Is there anything holding those Pull rods in so they wont fall out?...thanks...al

If I had the talent to make an instrument THAT beautifull, it would have my name on it! Image I'm happy for you. I know how you feel. Image

Interesting point: why no logo? Lamar built me a lap steel several years ago (which HowardR now owns) and it did have his name/logo on it.

,,,the Logo,,,I should be ashamed for posting pics with no logo. When I rec'd it by DHL it was very hot here in Texas,,,and the guitar,,being in a new case,,,anyway the edges of the logo was peeling up (probably due to the glue fumes in the case,,in fact when I opened the cas I could smell glue fumes),,so I peeled it on off. Lamar has since sent me a new logo,,,which I will probably use as a pattern to "pierce" one out of sheet aluminum or maybe polished rosewood to match the trim. Ya'll are correct,,,I should have had the logo on before I posted,,,

Sonny, that is one beautiful instrument, both in the quilted maple and the craftsmanship of the "machinery" end. Just lovely. Lik ebb, I'm also curious about the copedent and didn't quite understand what you meant. How is it set up?

Jim Thank you,,,and everyone for the comments. I use a very basic copedent,,,it is the exact same one used by Jeff Newman,,and is on his website. However he just uses 4 knees,,and I have 6 (Like Mooney said about his front neck,,I'm saving the other 2 for hard times,,,LOL). http://www.jeffran.com/tuning.php <font size="1" color="#8e236b"><p align="center">[This message was edited by Sonny Jenkins on 14 October 2006 at 11:48 AM.]</p></FONT>

On this straight-pull changer, does the whole block move, so that the bridge point moves and changes the scale length? This would seem to cause intonation problems far up the neck, if the strings and stops are tuned open at the nut. Or does the bridge point remain motionless, with a separate piece attaching to the string and moving?

Hats off to Lamar on a fine piece of workmanship. Keyless!! I luv ya!! There will always be room for craftsmanship in our world. Rolex never stopped making watches just because of economic hard times!! They're still makin' 'em!!

Out of all the pedal steels that I've sold in the past , my Lamar is still one of the best of them all ...Tone, Beauty, Quality, Light Weight, and Lamar Colvin is one of the nicest guy's you would ever want to talk to ..His craftsmanship is 2nd to none , and his woodworking and finishing skill is top notch .... You will NOT see any seams in ANY of his wood work ...I really don't know how he does this ...Good Luck with your Lamar Sonny !!....It's a beatuy !!!....Sincerely, Jim
