New Zum joins the family

Post by Jeff Lampert »

My wine-colored ZumSteel, D10/11 8x8 now has a baby sister. Last week I received a brand new black Zum, also D10/11, with 8x12 (12 knees). It is an utterly fantastic instrument, sounds wonderful and plays like whipped cream. Just an incredible piece of workmanship and design. Thanks so much Bruce for this fantastic machine and thanks Danny H. for all the advice and help. .. Jeff

8 and 12! Bruce talked me out of a staggered center left knee on the C6...now I'm jealous!

Jeff, care to share that setup?

Ok Jeff...I'll be the one who asks...

You got any unusual changes on your E9 neck?

Hey...
Jeff's oviously proud of his new acquisition and some pictures, along with his already given copedant would be a plus. Most people like to see a new steel when it has arrived. I know I do. And, I'm partial to Zum's anyway.
BTW, Jeff. Is it a "Hybrid" ?

Jeff-I like your C6 setup. It seems to be complete Musically. Your fifth whole tone drop on the LRK and your third whole tone drop on P4 completes the Musical picture. Plus, Both together gives a complete F6, your Subdominant

I have both of them on my tuning. I have not seen many with the both drops on C6. I noticed that Paul Frnklin has it on his E9.
Lots of stuff there as you well know. I know Reece had it on his old Bb6 tuning years ago.
Guys, check out Jeff's C6 tuning, it's all there......al Image

Jeff, if you want to learn to post pictures for yourself, here is one way. It is the one that I use.

Geez Louise...what an axe!!! Just curious, has anybody ever had more than 12 knee levers???? I'm sure in Jeff's case...MORE is MORE...but if you ever add another floor pedal Jeff, I've got a couple suggestions. Ha. Image

Jeff,

Congratulations on your new Zum. I have one ordered and expect it somewhere around the end of this year. Mine is also black and is an S-12 extended E9. Yours is a beauty!

Jeff,
That's a beautiful Zum (I love black steels) I hope Bruce didn't have "brain strain" when he rodded that baby. But, keeping the cortex humming is a good thing.
"Good Luck" with your new axe. I know you'll do it proud.

What are the 4 things in that metal piece that goes from front to back? One on E9 side, three on C6, and a few holes for more.

...... On second thought, that is where the return compensators are attached.
[This message was edited by Gary Lee Gimble on 08 September 2006 at 02:30 PM.]
