Very sad news indeed. I engineered most of his demo sessions during the early 70's. Super nice and down to earth person. I also had the pleasure of doing some sessions at the studio at his home.

My fondest memory of Tom T was a friend of mine came to visit me in Nashville and after I picked him up at the airport I told him that were going to Tom T's house to do some recording. My buddy was very excited. When we got to his home he answered the door and after the introduction he led us into his den and sat down on the sofa and invited us to share a beer with him. It is a memory that I will always cherish.

Rest in Peace Tom.

My sympathies to Hillman ( his brother ) and the rest of his family.

I loved his stories and songs. My son was brought up on his Country Songs for Children Song....Gotta love the song Sneaky Snake on there....and pretty much all the others!
Was great to read Mark's story, that would have been wonderful spending time with him and having a beer!

Sad. And eerie! Last night we naively performed "I flew Over our House Last Night," with a singer who always changes "Frankfort" to "Franklin."

My favorite song he did, 'The Great East Broadway Onion Championship of 1978', about playing pool with an onion as a cue ball with Joe Ely at Stubbs BBQ in Lubbock Texas.

So sorry to hear of Tom's passing. Certainly an original and apparently a genuinely nice person. I loved the tune "I Remember The Day Clayton Delaney Died". And, "Water Melon Wine".

I'm sad to hear of this. I was honored to play in a band that fronted him at an Opry in Florida. He was a very nice and pleasant person with a great sense of humor. What a fantastic talent we have lost.
When I started playing full time, we had a local "Clayton Delany" and every time I played in a band with him the first song he would do was, "Ole dogs and children and watermelon wine".

I got the chance to catch his show in Huntington, WV. in 1983 at the oldCamden Park. I was visiting my aunt and uncle in nearby Ironton,Ohio w. God needed a "STORY TELLER" so He called Tom T home. He will truly be missed

Another big loss in country music. The Storyteller had some big hit records. His writing and his voice were so unique. My favorite was Clayton Delaney but liked all of his songs. RIP Tom T Hall, you will definitely be missed.

I had the great fortune of having breakfast one morning at the local Holiday Inn in Colorado Springs with Tom T.Hall and my great friend Gus Barba. A very pleasant experience.
Super nice and friendly fellow. May he rest in peace.

I agree, Walter! I read his zany novel, What A Book, many years ago, and couldn’t stop laughing! Problem was that I was on an airplane in some rough weather, and nobody else was laughing!

How do you pronounce the capitol of Kentucky, is it Looeee-ville, or Louis-ville? No, it's Frankfort.

Good to know that someone is doing those songs on a regular basis.
