Echoes of the South Pacific?

Here is Margie Mays playing Echoes. Its a very nice arrangement which I have transcribed. The song is credited to Hal Aloma, but he does not solo on the title on the Luau 400 LP. So, I am wondering whether this is Margie's arrangement, or a version from some other source?

I concur!

I love the sound of other people playing B11th, but every time I try to use it I find it very strange. But wow is it awesome in the right context

I know Margie played some Jerry Byrd arrangements, but as no one has addressed my question, I will assume for now that Echoes is Margie's arrangement for steel guitar. If anyone finds another source, or even a Hal Aloma original on some obscure recording, please remember this thread. Luau 400 is a vocal.

Margie Mays has been playing this tune at least since I first saw her in the early 90's. It's pretty safe to call it her arrangement.

Regardless of who arranged it, Margie has a uniquely great touch and feel on the instrument. Her phrasing, vibrato and feel are beautiful. I've heard this clip before but nice to revisit it.

I’m going to keep an eye out for the original sheet music. I checked a couple of the online sheet music vendors and nothing comes up under this title. Maybe an original one will pop up on eBay sometime.

I have seen the sheet music come up on eBay twice. John Leal, co-author, was in the Hawaii Calls group.

Thanks for the contributions all. I was only vaguely aware of this tune but have been playing it a lot thanks to this post. That I, V+ change is very compelling. Using Dave's tab, the sheet music but mostly Margie's video and changing things to her feel and approach, here's how I notated/tabbed the arrangement:

Thanks, Doug. B11th is the coolest tuning and under explored in my view. It does't work for everything but as you say, it really conjures a certain mood and vibe.

Thanks for posting that, Andy! It is a lovely tune. I just started playing B11 tuning about 6 months ago and I love the sound. This song will be fun to add to my meager repertoir.

I did a book of B11th arrangements that's out of print in hard copy but will be available as a download on my book site if I can get ever myself to finish the corrections I need to do.
