Hum

Post by Larry Allen »

S10 Excel guitar, NV112, Telonics 84PU & Vol pedal...Same kit for 20 years...very low hum developed; pedal on full, amp set for studio volume , as soon as I turn on the tone control (just on ) the hum is gone...?? Not audible when band is here...everything grounded .......Larry

I'd check for chassis ground on the tone pot. Remove pot, look at the mating surfaces, clean and sand lightly.
The cap might be dying, as well. They're cheap.
2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

Lane..my next move is to replace the cap...grounds are clean....I’ve got to dig out my old Guitar Electronics book to see how to check the cap...thanks for your input...Larry
