Dennis it would be interesting to know how many were made. I have serial number 105D. I'm about to send a message to Mike Cass to see if he knows when it was made. Part of the problem is that it was converted to a SD12 and the knee levers are not OEM. It does have the old style pedals. Good luck.

I've had several of them at the shop and frequently will change them to SD12's as they are nearly impossible to sell as D12's IMHO.

Geesh, the weight must be up there.
I had a single 12 and that was heavy enough.
Didn't Buddy Cage own a D12 that was stolen?

Don't ever leave an Emmons D12 in your unlocked car in NY city. - when you come back there might be a second one right beside it!

Here is the D12 I owned.
That's Jory Simmons and myself at a steel guitar show in Wisconsin.

I hear you, Erv. :)

I know it’s ridiculous in this day and age. But, that’s where I find its charm! I am an Extended E9 kind of guy who thought it would be fun to own one double neck. So, when I found this lacquer Emmons, I perceived it as a diamond in the rough.

I actually plan to have it restored sometime. With some love, it’s going to be a lot of fun to enjoy. It’s a great sounding guitar to me!

Brandon,
Yes, that's the reason I bought it.
To experiment with an extended E9th tuning.
I wanted a low E string.
Take care, :D

Does anyone know if Emmons himself had a D12 around ‘73-‘74 in L.A.? I think I saw him playing one then but I don’t entirely trust my memory. Everything about him loomed large to me! Still does, more than ever.

That was recorded when Buddy Cage was playing his Emmons D-12. I think it was purple lacquer.

I've got one. It's heavy and sits in its case. Sometimes I think I ought to convert it to a SD12 and sell all the parts, especially the bellcranks. But naaww...........
