WTF is that all about. Taking a keyless and turning it into a keyed. My only guess is the keyless mechanism is broke and they had no way to fix it.

Is that the Sierra ‘Mullet’?

The controversial world of trans-steel: it obviously identified as "keyed" even though it was born as a keyless.

And since there are no pedal rods, that must be one of the new bluetooth controlled models.

It's a headless guitar, with a head, and a place to rest your feet for someone that has 3 legs.
I have stuff.
I try to make music with it.
Sometimes it works.
Sometimes it doesn't.
But I keep on trying.

It's the very low-production M.C. Escher signature model! At least, that's one perspective.....

This brings back memories! When I was tiny my grandparents had in their garden a sawhorse which had had a wooden head and tail put on it to make a playhorse.

I'd forgotten, and now 65 yrs on I've remembered - thank you :)

It seems like that would add an excessive amount of length to string 5 and 6. Also why would they keep the top part of the keyless tuner, does it have a purpose in this scenario because obviously instead of using the tuner now it is tuning keys for tuning. Whole thing is confusing.

Having looked through all the pics in the ad, it looks like someone didn't understand the Keyless mechanism, and went ahead and "fixed" it, without hardly disturbing the existing Keyless hardwear. I only see one lock-down screw missing from string-3, a hardware store fix.
I'm guessing this modification pre-dates the internet, and possibly the local phone service.
It doesn't look far off from being a perfectly fine 70's vintage Crown Series keyless S10 with 3x5. It needs 3 Pedal-rods, a general Keyless tuneup, and bypass those extra knobs/switches. I would take it away for $100 As-Is if I played an S10 (owner pays me the $100 to take it away).
The person who did that mod probably thought they were a genius for coming up with that "fix".
We can save this one for the next Keyed vs Keyless thread!
  :)

"Questions about a Sierra pedal steel?"
