I have not been able to get a wound sixth to work for me in regular E-9 so like a lot of people I use a plain. I'm wondering if the .026 wound will work with a Franklin change in D-9 on my guitar and I'm thinking of ordering just a single .026 to try it out SO... just to be clear is this the same string you are using in these sets "GHS .026 Progressive Wound"? Thanks in advance.
The GHS Progressive wound strings are a brighter sounding alloy than nickel wound, which is what I used for these D9th sets. I have a lever that lowers .026w F# to E on my guitar. I've tried several brands and alloys without a problem.
I put a set on this weekend and just in case anyone else is wondering if they can get a wound 6th string to work with a Franklin change on a 3/2 changer I can say that in my case it did work out just fine. I had to move the pull rod to the hole furthest from the the cross-shaft and use the hole in the changer closest to the axle. It just tuned up without having to go for more pedal travel. It's really great to have a wound 6th string again! My first impressions of D9 are good in general. The guitar seems to sound a little more open and meatier if that makes sense. I'll know more after playing out a few times. Thanks for offering these sets b0b.
