Sho Bud ID

Post by Doug Taylor »

Could someone be kind enough to let me know what model Sho Bud this is? I am brand new to steel and it is for sale close to me. It has 3 pedals and 2 knees( I think)

Possibly a "made by ShoBud" Fender... but it has a round front...
More likely a "custom made" guitar with ShoBud parts?

It looks like a Maverick, from which the vinyl covering is removed

It is definitely a later model Maverick. From what I can see in the pic it's probably not worth very much. If it's all there, pedal rack, rods, etc., including a workable case, and is fully functional and ready to play with just a new set of strings it might be worth ~$500. If it's missing any parts or needs any work to get it up and running, then much less.

If you're new to steel you'd be better off buying something that is ready to play, and something that will be easy to re-sell if/when you decide to upgrade.

Thanks for the detailed replies, I am going to pass on this one. Talked to the owner and he does not play and can’t answer any questions other than he bought it from a friends widow.

Yes.. later model "no neck" Maverick, with the vinyl removed.. The fact that it does indeed have 2 knees helps.. To me in that condition, its a $350 guitar... bob

I've never seen a Maverick with inlay.

That's not inlay. If you zoom in, It is a decal or sticker strip.
