Pad for Pedal Steel

I am writing about this pad that I recently recieved from Mr Donald Blood of Illinois..
I saw an ad on ebay that had to do with a pad that bolt's on to the back leg's of a pedal steel so that you can have a pad on that single neck pedal steel http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7336102683&category=623&rd=1

.... Some guys say a pad slows them down...My feeling is that I'm sure that there are more players that would like to have a rest for their arm's but don't want to carry all that extra weight ... None of us are getting any younger, and this pad that Don made me is GREAT !!.....He has a standard pad for standard pedal steel's, and will make Custom pads at an additional cost ...The craftsmanship is really nice , and it's all made from aluminum ....The pad not only slides up and down the back legs for height adjustment, but it also slides closer or further from the steel ... Don will soon join the forum as I told him about what a great bunch of guy's we have on this forum , and how his product would be put to good use ....He made me a custom pad because he had to RE-make the mounts for me ....I play a Sierra with square legs !!....He went the extra mile and made the setup for me ....It fit's like it was made for the steel ... I 'm going to Fla. in the morning , and I'm not sure how to post pictures, but if you go to Ebay and type in "Pedal Steel " in the ebay search, they will come up ....Don is a great guy, and also makes a great product....He has a few different colors too .....I just wanted to let you guy's know that he is a standup guy, and makes a standup product .. Because of a physical disability, Don has been working with me,to adjust that disability to the Pad on my SD.
It calls for some extra thought in the physical properties of the pad itself.
Since Don has a desire to please,there will be ample demand for his services, in the future.
If anyone is using a S10 and needs the SD feature give him a shout, as this is a very good looking addition to the S10, making it a beautiful SD10 conversion.

James;
That sounds like a better idea then a friend of mine had, even if just for l©©ks! My friend had a Black S–10 Franklin and he glued a block of wood (painted black) about 1½”x1½”x6” onto the top of the cabinet beside the neck, for a hand~rest. It worked, but; I would have at least covered the block w/foam & Naugahyde! Nah!

John,
Don goe's a little further than a block of wood !!....LOL !!.... These pad's really look GREAT !! Very solid, comfortable, adjustable , and very functional ..

I bought a pad From Donald for a friend.
He loves it. It is very neat and attractive,
adjustable to most guitars, and very comfortable.

James-Thanks for the post. This looks like a nice light weight and inexpensive solution to replace buyting a SD 10 guitar. Now you can get a S10 for less money and put this on and have it both ways. Should be a good seller for guys who want a pad.

Don, do you offer pads for for single neck guitars on double bodies? I'm converting a double neck to a single on a double frame and would like to have a pad.

Dave, Heres my story.My Stroke from 1990 was making me put too much pressure on a nice new pad. I have a 2003 Willie SD 10,and had a new pad made, because the original pad, had too light a foam 1/4 in., and was digging into my elbow. I even made a newer one using twice the thickness of foam,1/2 inch, but i ended up with a pad that did not feel any good .
I could feel the wood right thru the Naugahyde digging into a almost bloody elbow.
Don was told i needed a newer way to make the pad, as the rubber foam that was used was not strong enough to hold my right arm up.. and he did just that. He created just what i needed for the amount of pressure i was using on the pad. This man is a true genius, and really aims to give you what you really want. He is not about, price , but customer satisfaction, and is truly dedicated. Everytime i sit down at this masterpiece, i smile as this pad is indeed built to perfection. It has several innovations on this pad, and it really works well. Anone looking for a better pad should check him out.

Paul and Sonny, thanks saying good things about the pads. I made some extra pads to take to St.Louis this past labor day, but unfortunately my dad passed away and I cancelled my trip.
Now that I have the extras I'm thinking of having some kind of special sale, but I haven't yet figured out the details.
I'm posting some links to pictures of a couple of the special pads I made. Two are of Jim's sierra with the rectangular legs, since he started this post. The other two are of a Carter starter with a narrow pad I made which is shorter than the ones I usually make.
If anyone is interested in a good deal, this is the time. Thanks.

I had a situation on my Sierra where every time I was playing my steel , my strings would short out on the pickups ( Danny Shields ) as I liked the tone where they were adjusted , but the strings kept hitting the pole pieces from the weight of my hand ....If I held my hands up high in the air it was OK , but I could not relax to play as I was always concentrating on holding my hands in a less than comfortable position ...Enter Don's pad ...One of the things about Don's pad is the fact that it is not only a pad , but an ADJUSTABLE pad that you can adjust to the height that you desire ....This pad is not only comfortable , but looks GREAT ...It will also allow you to have the smaller, lighter, case , and guitar with the convienience of a pad...None of us are getting any younger, and I highly reccomend this pad ...You could not ask for a better person to work wtih than Don either ...
