clean S10 or S11 ZB with maybe 5 and 4 or 4 and 5.. Might not sound like a tall order, but clean single neck ZB's are very rare.. For every nice S10 I have seen over the last better than 4 1/2 decades, I have seen 20 double necks... bob

When I lived in Nashville TN. years back I had the honor of playing guitar in a band that featured Jimmie Crawford on pedal steel. He was an amazing musician who also built incredible pedal steel guitars which were called JCH's. I've always wanted a JCH with 8 pedals and 8 knee levers.

Love this finish. I never learned C6 and I'm too old to lug a double neck. If I bought another steel this would be it.

My dream guitar would be a custom creation, with the following characteristics...

Rosewood fretboards with polished guitar fretting material, for the raised "dustcatcher" perspective
Rhinestone fret markers (Domland inspired), or perhaps mother of pearl dots or some other inlay – colored of course
Neckless body construction, using a maple deck and a welded frame like on an MCI, but with a center "apron" beam for support, like on an MSA Classic
Most likely headless, unless I can figure out how to make Grover locking tuners work in some kind of ashtray key head
Machined raise/lower bars (not stamped metal) with a short connecting rod between pivot and finger
Redesigned Blanton-style pullers, with some kind of pass-through center pull archetecture
Knife changer instead of an axle
Longer-than-normal helper springs and return springs
Black mica with silver finish along frame corers and a center tin strip along the deck change
Curved, wide-paddle levers with adjustable angle of attack, perhaps folding inwards like a Sierra, but with position locking
Deep socket legs that are twist-lock instead of threaded
Pedals with adjustable leverage (multi-hole), adjustable length, and pedal pads that are circular and rubberized with some simple, off-the-shelf pattern for easy replacement
Latching pedal bar
Ball/socket joints on both ends of the rods
Ball bearings on the cross shafts
Some kind of branding on the front apron that has cursive and falcon wings

I might add to this pipe dream...

I really don’t think about a dream steel, because I always wanted an Emmons LeGrande II, and now I have that guitar. As a result of a severe truck accident in ‘05, with the insurance money I was able to buy the Emmons and put up a 20x30ft shop. So, my wife informed me that this steel is probably gonna have to last another 30yrs. I’ll be 102.

While being a tone chaser of old steels, my dream steel would be a ROSS SHAFER Sierra Steel with all the beauty and inovation. I spoke at length at the SWSGA show in Mesa, with Ross. One look at b0b's stole my heart, mine would be in Blue.
A S10 with small shelf and all Ross's new ideas. DON'T GET ANY BETTER AT THIS TIME

Yep. But that's not the coolest thing about the pedal rods. You can just reach around the front apron and twist them to adjust the pedal height!

Just one of many innovations on these new guitars.

I dreamt up a set of Dekley-modifications about three decades ago, and so far I haven't found one that can beat the old bastard soundwise…

… although I have test-driven a whole bunch of PSGs over the years that look better

I'm still dreaming, but the old one still performs more than close enough for comfort. Just wish I could copy all those modifications into another PSG, as it would be nice to have one on both sides of the pond since the old one is a little on the heavy side for flying.

Mine's an S-10, Jeffrey. 10 strings are all I need to play anything I want to play.

This is my favorite and I have had several great guitars. This a 2008 model built by Gary Carpenter. Plays smooth and sounds awesome. Very precision built.
