Well, look at how many pedal steels are on Reverb at any given time- probably about 20-30, right? So naturally they will sell quicker than a Fender or Gibson, especially the cheaper models like the Maverick or Carter Starter. I think including them in that article is a little misleading, because although they might sell quickly, there is not enough sales volume to make them stand out.

That's true for making sense of their comparative ranks, but it's still valid for showing that there are a lot more people who want to buy than people who are selling.Sam Norris wrote:Well, look at how many pedal steels are on Reverb at any given time- probably about 20-30, right? er umm, do you guys REALLY think that there are more Carter or Sho Bud pedal steels sold on Reverb than Martin acoustics or Fender Strats/teles????... I would take that "list" with a 50 lb bag of salt... bob

Weird list consisting of more or less totally unknown micro-volume brands (based on the fact that Carter and Sho-Bud are in reality known only to us steelers). So how fast a guitar sells just cannot be a very interesting or informative parameter. It says nothing about how many are sold at what prices... And Reverb is not the only marketplace...

Bob, that's not what the list is about. It's not about how many they sell. It's about how fast they sell once listed. Probably there are so many Fenders and Gibsons listed that it takes more time to find a buyer, whereas with a PSG, there are far fewer on Reverb at any time, so when they are listed, they tend to go quickly. That's all this list means.Bob Carlucci wrote:er umm, do you guys REALLY think that there are more Carter or Sho Bud pedal steels sold on Reverb than Martin acoustics or Fender Strats/teles????... I'm no expert, but how I'd read into that is that it's musicians who have used Reverb previously and want to dabble in steel guitar... and then on the 'sell' side musicians who have dabbled and then either gave up or upgraded to a steel guitar bought elsewhere.Per Berner wrote:Weird list consisting of more or less totally unknown micro-volume brands (based on the fact that Carter and Sho-Bud are in reality known only to us steelers). Yeah, I wasn't thinking along those lines Jim... In the scenario you put forth it would stand to reason the steels might sell faster because there are so few places to buy a used one... bobJim Cohen wrote:Bob, that's not what the list is about.
