Malware Bytes Pop Up - Help Wiz

Post by George Piburn »

I up graded my Malwarebytes recently , -- all good - I only use the free version, no desire to go premium as I have slow - fast speed radio connection.

My Question is about the little pop up I now get frequently; is there a way to stop it?

In the preferences I do not have the look for updates box checked.

Running Mac OS if that matters.

Thanks for any advise.

What is the "pop up" you are getting? There could be several. That will help Wiz.

Popup - message

Post by George Piburn »

Thanks Jack,

It comes up in the upper right corner of my Mac Book Pro; with a selection for Version Update or Close.
"A new and improved version of Malwarebytes is available" with the logo.

I only started getting it after I downloaded and installed the version update to whatever the new version is.

Please accept the new Malwarebytes update on the notice. You must approve all updates to the program itself. New sub-versions may be released as needed. You may have downloaded a version that is a decimal point outdated. The program detects when program updates are available and asks for permission to download and install them. This doesn't apply to definition updates, which proceed automatically.

Thanks Wiz

The Previous version , only asked you to update the decimal as you ran it , so I am hearing you say it now sends in the little flags.

The email does the same thing when a new message arrives, except they go away by themselves.

I was hoping to get the MWB flags to go away by themselves too.

Not that bothersome for the ability to scan regularly.

George;
All of the nuisances go away if you register the program and renew when the time is up. I have been running the registered, paid versions of MBAM for a long long time. It runs in the background and protects against all manner of threats, both online and plugged in (version 3.x).

Years ago, MBAM was advertised as a backup solution that had your 6. Now, the tone has changed with the merging of multiple protection modules. It now has your 1. I have Malwarebytes protecting two of my computers that only have Windows Defender as the primary defense. While I don't really trust Defender to protect me from zero days and such, Malwarebytes does those things better than before. I don't even consider going without it.

Higher Version

Post by George Piburn »

Thanks again Wiz

It was a higher version; I figured out the in the preferences the About MWB tells the version currently running.

The one in the prompter was a higher Decimal and it loads in a minute or so - not just a database upgrade; the Version.

I've been using MWB since you 1st told me (everyone) about it some years ago. For those who do not already know it is a must have utility for all systems.

As usual Wiz to the rescue.
