Went to see Sonny Landreth at World Cafe Live here in Philly, and the opening band "Western Centuries" had SGF member Leo Grassl on steel.

The band was great, original songs from 3 talented writers, with a Country/Tex-Mex and Cajun feel.......and Leo's contributions were picture perfect. Right in the pocket, never too much and exactly what each song called for. In fact I told my wife to key in on his playing, as it was a great lesson for me in NOT over-playing.

Leo, if you see this, what was your set-up? Thought I could see a Peavey amp, but I couldn't make out the steel from where I was sitting. The sound mixer did you right, though.....you were clear and well-featured in the mix.

And Sonny Landreth? Just wow. If you've seen him, you know.......if you haven't, make it a point to. He's otherworldly at times.

Fun night.

Leo's a great player and super good dude. And shoots down this goofy idea that there're no young guys playing steel or that you can't make a living doing this!
