VERY EXCITED!!!!! about "Rose -Bud"

Post by Neil Lang »

Who would-a-thunk-it? At 75 years old (this Aug) I would be so excited about this Super Pro II that "never was" UNTIL NOW!!!
I am getting close to getting everything I need to complete the project. Still some time to go however.
Getting many parts from PSGparts.com. (Michael Yal).
Got nice rack of 8 pedals (as new) from Fred Jack in Texas.
Had spare fretboards & odds ends from over the years.
New old stock heads, put on new Gold 18:1 Grovers
North County Steel's Jim Palenscar making gauged roller nut bridges for her.
Got changers from 2 other places on the forum etc.
This has been a real challenge, many issues, very expensive also. But in the end is going to be so rewarding for an old Sho~ Bud Freak like me!!
When all done I will post pictures of the under carriage also.
Having the time of my life!!! Special thanks to my wife Barbara Jean (Fisk) Lang an accomplished keyboardist and Bass player, for putting up with these "Sho~Bud" antics and me for the past 55 years!!!
Neil

Thanks Joe, When I saw how the Cream body made the inlay look gold & black.....it HIT ME.....Gold Tuners for sure!!
At first I thought the Rose might have to go.....but when I got the info that it was made that way and under the clear finish, I said, no....IT has to STAY!! I had spare SP pickups and the black dust catcher fret boards, they standout amazingly also.

Way cool

Post by Andy DePaule »

Way cool Neil,
The perfect thing would have been to get a couple of my fret boards with the gold to match the tuners.
Even so, Love what you've done.
Been rebuilding some Buds too and appreciate the fine work you've done.
Really like that rose on the front apron.
Is it all under the finish? Couldn't tell from the pictures if it has lacquer on it yet?
Best wishes,
Andy

Andy,
Your fretboards are Super Cool!!! It did cross my mind to have the Hearts & Diamonds "Gold" and the Spades & Clubs "Cream" colored. And have the fret markers Silver. But the red & Rose pick up on each other also. I will keep your boards in mind for sure!!!

Thanks to ALL for the kind words and encouragement!!!

Your Masterpiece

Post by Andy DePaule »

Hi Neil,
I was just joking with you.
I love the way that guitar looks.
Also looks like we all work in the kitchen or dining room?
Just noticed your in Minnesota. I expect to be going there later in the summer to see two of my son's in the twin cities.
Maybe I'll get to see a finished masterpiece?
Best wishes,
Andy

Andy,
It is actually in our basement, workbench area. I have some old kitchen cabinets installed down there for storage etc.
I needed more bench room so I put up a card table. If it was the kitchen.....well......I know we wouldn't make 56 years in that case!!!! Ha!!! ;-)

Forgot to mention that I really liked what you did with the slotting on the end plates.
Also I'll expect to be coming through Albert Lea on my way from Texas to the Twin cities to visit two of my sons. Maybe I'll take you up on that visit.
Looks like you like Old Sho Buds and Archtop guitars a lot, Me too...
