John Fabian once sent me a Carter Starter to evaluate.

For an E9 steel, it sounded great and played pretty darn well.

Knee levers moved a little for me, but other than that, I could have taken it on a gig.
AUTHORIZED PEAVEY, George L's, Goodrich dealer. I have 2 steels and several amps. My current rig of choice is 1993 Emmons LeGrande w/ 108 pups (Jack Strayhorn built for me), Goodrich OMNI Volume Pedal, George L's cables and Peavey Nashville-Session 112 or 115.

I had a Carter Starter for a few years and played it on several gigs... mostly outdoor gigs where it was extremely hot and dusty or very cold and I didn't want to take my Emmons out. The CS sounded fine and stayed in tune. Of course, it was a lightweight student model and couldn't be compared to the pro models, but it was a handy "grab and go" guitar. I ended up giving it to a friend. Sometimes I wish I had kept it.

Bill, you got that right! When you can play like Terry Crisp the guitar don't much matter. He has been a favorite of mine for quite a long time.

I recall me and the late Bryan Adams, who was a very good friend, player, and Emmons PP Mechanic, attending one of Stoney's Steel Jamborees in Knoxville, Tn. and Terry was there playing...first time I ever heard him but he flat was burning it up!

Terry, Bryan, and I went outside during a break and Terry said he wanted to show us his new Album he had finished. It was his "Burnt To A Crisp" Album.

Bryan and Terry knew each other but I was just introduced to him by Bryan. We talked about his album and then he handed me and Bryan a Album. I asked him how much do I owe you? Terry said man, you don't owe me anything. I thanked him and asked if he would sign it for me. He said man I ain't nobody, why would want me to sign it? I told him that he might not be anybody right now but you WILL BE if the right people hear you....it's just a matter of time. Terry did sign it for me.

I still have that Album and converted it to a CD and still play it.

Terry if you happen to read this post you may remember that day. You are and have been "Somebody"
I have admired, along with many Steel Players, for a long time. :)

Thanks for posting Bill.

That was excellent by Terry Crisp and I would never expect anything else. Terry is one of my favorite players. The second video posted sounds pretty good too.

These guys would also sound great on a simple board of wood with a few strings on it. :\

Kind Regards, Walter

That Terry Crisp rendition was awesome. Terry is definitely right up there at the top of the best of the best.

Check out Dickey Overby playing "We Could".

Don't even talk about Terry. Someone needs to super glue his picks on backwards.

Every time I watch Terrry play this, I think, “WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME”?... "What on earth do I need more than what he’s playing here”?

Does anyone know if Terry has any Tab available for "We Could" I have been beating myself up trying to figure out what he is doing to make it sound so interesting. Just amazing playing.
