Here are some photos of a guitar that I am restoring now. It is a S-10 perm seems to have a very nice cabinet.

Did you refinish it or was it just that beautiful when you got it? :whoa:

Amazing
2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

The guitar in the photo is the one that I am restoring. The finish was in bad shape so I had it refinished, and the logo and card shapes were inlayed. I plan to clean up the original undercarriage and put it back as original as I can. The pedals were relocated, but I will put them back to original locations and plug the extra holes.

The front and ends are made of black ebony wood.

That is a beautiful looking cabinet right there.

When you say ebony, Bob, is that a veneer?

Maybe I'm being sacrilegious, but it's such a cool gtr...have you considered putting a modern changer/undercarriage on it?

No. Pull-release has TONE. Make it do the modern changes, sure, but keep the changer.

skip...i hear ya! that could make an ultra cool hot rod with a real mechanism. i would imagine it could still sound great. it's already been refinished. imagine what show pro might do to it mechanically.

The cabinet is made of all solid woods 3/4 thick, it looks way better than the photos show. The only veneer is the inlay's, except for the logo which is MOP.

I am sure that would play better, but this is a special built guitar played by Shot Jackson, the only other one close to it was a 16 string made for Buddy Charlton. These two guitars were built by David Jackson about the same time, I'm not sure that I want to change it very much.

Wow. It is hard to get ebony these days in pieces like that. I rob old pianos of their black keys for it and can only use it for little things of course

Wow Bob. This is a stunner! Where do you find these guitars?
Call James and tell him about it! He and I have talked about never seeing an S-10 Perm. He'd enjoy talking to you!

Ducktail changer! My favorite. Kind of mirrors the gumby keyhead, to suggest an S, for Shobud!

Please. There isn't another steel guitar anywhere that sounds as good as a good Perm.
